2023 Undergraduate Student Quiz Bowl

 

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

Teams comprised of 4 undergraduate students enrolled for the Fall 2023 semester at a university or college within the Southwest region. Each team should be supervised by a Faculty Advisor who is a current member of SWACJ.

PROCESS:

The Quiz Bowl consists of two preliminary relays followed by a championship round.

  • Preliminary Relays

    • Teams will be divided as evenly as possible and relay assignment will be done by random selection.

    • The winning team from each relay will compete in the championship round.

    • Topics covered include law enforcement, corrections, the U.S. judicial system, criminal law, and criminal procedure. In the event of a tie, applicable teams will be quizzed on landmark U.S. Supreme Court decisions.

  • Championship Round

    • The two teams that win the preliminary rounds will compete head-to-head in the championship round.

    • Points will not carry over from the previous relays into the championship round.

    • Topics covered include criminology and the history of the criminal justice system. In the event of a tie, applicable teams will be quizzed on landmark U.S. Supreme Court decisions.

AWARDS:

The team with the most points from the championship round will receive First Place ($250) and the remaining team in the championship round will receive Second Place ($150). All prize money will be given to the teams' Faculty Advisor for the winning teams to be used as they wish.
